Village of Wisdom (VOW) is an organization committed to supporting the healthy development of black youth through thier work with families.
During my time as an HPJ Fellow, I worked with VOW’s Founder who reached out to me shortly after my fellowship ended. From August 2014 to February 2015, I served as their Development Coordinator, a role in which I gained experience specifically related to:
- Managing the grantmaking process and conducting research related to available grants
- Authoring drafts for review for grants such as the Knight Cities Challenge, Z. Smith Reynolds, UNC Social Entrepreneurship, Headwaters Community Innovation, and Robert Wood Johnson grants
- Supporting the process of filing for nonprofit status by conducting research and drafting bylaws and Articles of Incorporation
