PECADOM+

PECADOM+ is an active malaria care-seeking program run by the Senegalese ministry of health. In 2012, with the aid of Peace Corps Volunteers, the model changed from a passive one, where community members had to seek out treatment, to an active one in which health workers actively walked around the village testing those who presented with malaria symptoms.

During the malaria season of 2016, I served as the program’s Regional Coordinator. In this role I carried out the following:

  • Coordinated 15 volunteers across health, business, and agriculture sectors
  • Organized a meeting to review program goals and volunteer responsibilities
  • Oversaw 3 district representatives to ensure timely data reporting across 35 clinics
  • Worked closely with the national coordinator to trouble shoot questions related to stock-outs, data collection, and trainings
